Welcome

Did you know? The Faculty of Canon Law in Leuven was founded in 1425, which makes us one of the oldest Catholic faculties in the world.

Despite our rather small size, we have the honour to attract many doctoral and foreign students. In this internationally oriented and academically stimulating environment much attention is paid to research that connects professional knowledge with an intellectual flair. Instructors and students from all over the world are able to exchange their knowledge and expertise in an interactive and stimulating atmosphere. When former students are appointed to roles such as bishop in China or the US, or work in the Diocese of New York or Toowoomba, they remain closely connected to our team of researchers and instructors.

International Experts

Our faculty revolves around limited permanent staff numbers, for which we largely make up by inviting a range of well-known international experts. Instructors and students from across the world meet during concentrated lesson weeks, where they share their knowledge and expertise in an interactive and stimulating atmosphere.
