Doctoral defense Brian Austin

In February 2020, the Faculty of Canon Law celebrated the successful PhD defense of Rev. Dr. Brian Thomas Austin during its biannual concentrated lesson week. In his PhD entitled "The Power of the Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith to Derogate from Prescription: An Evaluation of the Legality and Justice of the 2002 Rescript", Rev. Dr. Austin successfully investigated Pope John Paul II's authorisation of the CDF to derogate from terms of prescription and whether this is in line with principles of legality and natural justice.
